How To Make Money With Adsense?
If someone new to Internet marketing approached me and asked me how to make money, would I recommend that they consider Google Adsense? Google Adsense is a way for website and blog owners to sell space on their website or blog so that subscribers of Google Adwords Pay Per Click marketing can post relevant marketing links on their website. In turn, the Adsense member is paid a percentage of the revenue which each marketing link click generates from the Adwords subscriber.
Several of the websites and blogs which I have visited sell ad space through Adsense. Whether or not you make money really depends upon how much traffic your website or blog receives. I would imagine that a website which has in excess of two-thousand visitors per day can generate a decent amount of revenue.
Overall, I view Adsense as a good money making strategy. However, it has unfortunately experienced its fair share of abuse by individuals who have understood in the past who knew how to manipulate the search engines, and increase their search engine listing. As you can imagine, higher search engine listings, means more traffic, which leads to more clicks. Eventually, Google would discover the manipulation, at which time, the site would shut down, and the owner would simply open another one up with a different domain name. These individuals have unfortunately made their money.
Sure enough, when a few people abuse a system, the rest of us bare the consequences. As a result of search engine manipulation, Google is now sandboxing new sites for longer periods of time. Sandboxing is essentially an algorithm within Google which keeps newer sites from ranking for more competitive keywords and key phrases until they have "matured". As a result, several relevant, ethical websites with great content are being forced to sit in the sandbox before they can rank. Furthermore, I have read in places that if these newer sites have too many Google Adsense links, they will be automatically viewed as unethical, and will fail to rank.
Nonetheless, I do believe that there is a place for Adsense links on websites and blogs. So long as it is discrete, and ancillary to the main purpose of the website, it can generate an income stream. The main thing to keep in mind is what are your visitors looking for from you? Why are people visiting your website? If your website if visited because it is viewed as an information source, then information must come first and foremost, Adsense revenue should be secondary.
However, if your website or blog's purpose is to sell a product or service which you yourself are promoting, then I strongly discourage Google Adsense. The links which Google will place on your website will provide direct competition for your business. You definitely do not want this. At least not on your homepage.
Therefore, if someone new to Internet marketing approached me and asked me how to make money, whether I recommend Google Adsense or not depends entirely on their situation.
